Lōktan̄ūr - Duo Amaris
"Loktanur" is a character from a Marshallese folk tale about the strength and inspiration of a mother. Marshallese poet and climate activist Kathy Jetñil-Kijiners wrote two poems about it ("Iep jaltok", Arizona Press 2017). The two poems were set to music by Brazilian guitarist and composer João Luiz. “Loktanur” is part of “Tell them…” a work commissioned by and dedicated to Duo Amaris. Filmschneiderei Köln created unique videos for each of the songs from “Tell them…”

De mis primeros recuerdos del maestro Joao Luiz fue en la Semana de la Guitarra en Bogotá Colombia (por allá en 2009-2011) con el Brazil Guitar Duo y siempre quedé asombrado de la musicalidad y la técnica tan maravillosa del maestro. Qué alegría ver, muchos años después, que el maestro Brouwer le escribe música. Genio guitarrista y genio compositor juntos (amazing)
